DAYAS: Giving Honor to our Race, to our Cordilleran Identity

We are once again poured with blessings as our efforts to uplift our Cordilleran Narratives for the world to see were recognized yesterday at the 3rd Dangal ng Lahi Awards 2021 held at Okada Manila. We are fortunate to not only receive one but three awards for our Short Film DAYAS. Our Bantay, the IFFM Best Actor Mr. Jeyrick “Carrot Man” Sigmaton was the recipient of “International Best Indie Actor of the Year 2021”, our Director of Photography Mr. Pete Mariano on the other hand received the award for “International Best Cinematographer and Director of the Year 2021”, and our very own Cordilleran Director, Direk Jianlin was conferred with the award for “International Best Screenwriter and Director of the Year 2021”. These awards were a testament to the genuineness and authenticity of what we have showcased through Dayas.

Dangal ng Lahi which started 3 years ago, is an award-giving body that recognizes individuals who excel in various fields of expertise, gaining honor and recognition ultimately contributing to the Honor of our race, as Filipinos. Among the awardees of the said event were, Ms. Aiko Melendez as the “Most Versatile Actress of the Decade” and Ms. Julia Clarete who received the award as the “Most Admired Multi-Media Artist”.

We extend our Gratitude to the Juries of Dangal ng Lahi Awards for recognizing the passion and soul of Our Cordilleran Talents as presented in our short film DAYAS. This drives us to create more projects like Dayas and stay true to our commitment, to our advocacy of promoting the Cordillera as a whole, its art and culture as well as in providing a platform for our Cordilleran Talents to Thrive.

We offer this award to everyone who poured their hearts, effort, time, and resources into conceiving this passion project of ours, From the Sine Cordillera and Be Unrivaled Productions staff to our talented actors and actresses and our supportive Kakailyan and Partners. This is another great validation for us and it only goes to say that, truly, our Cordilleran Talents and Narratives are worth telling.
